THE MELROSE YEARS
We're looking back at the legendary grand openings, the late-night mosh pits, and the community that made Retail Slut a global phenomenon. The original storefront at 7517 Melrose Ave didn't just sell clothes, it hosted the scene that wore them: impromptu in-store sets, window displays that got the shop written up in the local press, a sign out front that read "A Good Place To Spend Money" with just enough irony to become a landmark in its own right.
MILESTONES ON THE RECORD
Sponsoring World Goth Day. Taking home top honors at the International L.A. Punk Rock Film Festival. Getting name-checked in Hollywood press clippings alongside bands like Frightwig. None of these moments were planned as marketing, they happened because the store kept showing up for the scene, year after year, whether or not anybody outside of it was paying attention.
