You can't talk about the fashion of Retail Slut without talking about the sound. The two have been inextricably linked since the beginning, creating a symbiotic relationship between underground music and subcultural style.
RETAIL SLUT RECORDS
With the launch of Retail Slut Records, we're bringing the sound of the underground back to the forefront. Expect darkwave synths, aggressive industrial beats, and high-octane live performances. This isn't a lifestyle brand slapping a logo on somebody else's tour merch. We're putting out actual releases, booking actual rooms, and paying actual bands, because the store was built on the same stages it's now trying to give back to.
THE FRIGHTWIG CONNECTION
Long before "Retail Slut" meant a storefront, it meant a crowd. Bands like Frightwig treated the Melrose shop like a green room, and that press clipping still hangs in the archive for a reason: "Hollywood girls find stardom is frightening" was never really about fame, it was about a scene that made room for women who played loud and dressed louder. That lineage is the whole reason a record label makes sense under this roof.
"THE CLOTHES WERE ALWAYS JUST STAGE WEAR FOR A SHOW THAT NEVER ENDED."
Every drop we put out gets built with a soundtrack in mind, and every show we throw gets built with the racks in mind. If you're only shopping Retail Slut and not listening to what's coming out of Retail Slut Records, you're getting half the story. Turn it up.
